Maurizio Magarini was born in Milano, Italy, in 1969. He received the Master and Ph.D. degrees in electronic engineering from the Politecnico di Milano, Milano, Italy, in 1994 and 1999, respectively. In 1994, he was granted the TELECOM Italia scholarship award for his thesis. From 1999 to 2001 he was a Research Associate in the Dipartimento di Elettronica e Informazione at the Politecnico di Milano where, since 2001, he has been an Assistant Professor. His research interests include signal detection, channel estimation, and equalization.

Prof. Luca Reggiani

Luca Reggiani received a honors degree in Electronic Engineering in 1998 and a PhD in Electronics and Communications in 2001 from the Politecnico di Milano (Italy). He had been a visiting scholar at the CMRR (Center for Magnetic Recording Research) c/o University of California, San Diego in 1999. As a consultant he has collaborated with several industries in the field of wireless communications and magnetic recording. Since 2003, he has been assistant professor at Politecnico di Milano in the telecommunications area. Since 2002 he has been teaching in courses on Signal and Transmission Theory and in courses on Wireless Communication Systems. He has joined to Italian and European research programs, especially in the field of cellular radio broadband systems and personal short range UWB (Ultra Wide Band) systems. In the Dipartimento di Elettronica ed Informazione his research interests are focused mainly in the following topics: information and communication theory (iterative codes, channel estimation, synchronization, multiple access, radio resource allocation), broadband radio systems, short range Ultra Wide Band radio systems, wireless sensor networks. His main publications and patents are in the physical layer of telecommunications and radio transmission.

Dr. Davide Scazzoli

Davide Scazzoli was born in Italy, in 1989. He received a M.Sc. degree in Telecommunications Engineering in the year 2016 and a Ph.D. in Information Technology in 2021. From 2022 he works as an assistant professor at Politecnico di Milano with his main reserarch focus being developing testbeds and prototypes for experimental validation based on Software Defined Radios. His main research foxus involves Unmanned Aerial Vehicles for both aiding communications and perfomring sensing operations, particularly localisation of active transmitters. His other research topics involve joint communication and sensing, Wireless Sensor Networks, IoT and Cloud applications for food Sustainability.

Muhammad Mahtab Alam (Senior Member, IEEE) received the M.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from Aalborg University, Denmark, in 2007, and the Ph.D. degree in signal processing and telecommunication from the University of Rennes1 France (INRIA Research Center), in 2013. He did his postdoctoral research (2014–2016) at the Qatar Mobility Innovation Center, Qatar. In 2016, he joined as the European Research Area Chair holder and as an Associate Professor with the Thomas Johann Seebeck Department of Electronics, Tallinn University of Technology, where he was elected as a professor in 2018 and Tenured Full Professor in 2021. Since 2019, he has been the Communication Systems Research Group Leader. His research focuses on the fields of wireless communications–connectivity, mobile positioning, 5G/6G services and applications. He has over 15 years of combined academic and industrial multinational experiences while working in Denmark, Belgium, France, Qatar, and Estonia. He has several leading roles as PI in multimillion Euros international projects funded by European Commission (Horizon Europe LATEST-5GS, 5G-TIMBER, H2020 5GROUTES, NATOSPS (G5482), Estonian Research Council (PRG424), Telia Industrial Grant etc. He is an author and co-author of more than 150 research publications. He is actively supervising a number of Ph.D. and Postdoc Researchers. He has also a contributed in two standardization bodies (ETSI SmartBAN, IEEE-GeeenICT-EECH), including “Rapporteur” of work item: DTR/ SmartBAN-0014”.

Junaid Sajid

Junaid Sajid received his master’s degree in information technology in 2022 from the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Pakistan. In 2023, he served as a Research Assistant at NUST, contributing to multiple research projects. From February 2024 to April 2025, he worked as a Lab Instructor at the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (SEECS), NUST, where he taught courses including Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. He is currently pursuing his PhD at the Thomas Johann Seebeck Department of Electronics, Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech), where he is working on the NATO-SPS project G7699.

Dr. Ivo Müürsepp

Ivo Müürsepp received his M.Sc. degree in Telecommunication from Tallinn University of Technology (TUT) in 2004 and his Ph.D. in 2013. He began his career in 2002 at the Department of Radio and Communication Technology at TUT, initially as an engineer, later serving as a teaching assistant and associate professor. He currently works as a Senior Lecturer at the Thomas Johann Seebeck Department of Electronics at the same university. He also has five years of professional experience with the Cyber Command of the Estonian Defence Forces, specializing in communication systems.

He has extensive teaching experience in the fields of telecommunication and electronics, having taught a wide range of undergraduate and graduate-level courses. He has supervised numerous bachelors’, master’s, and a few doctoral theses, and has authored or co-authored dozens of peer-reviewed research papers. His main research interests include signal processing, RF engineering, radio communication, and radio signal-based positioning and navigation systems.

In addition to academic work, he is also deeply committed to science communication and the popularization of STEM fields.

Dr. Marika Kulmar

Marika Kulmar received her diploma in system engineering and M.Sc. degree in telecommunications from Tallinn University of Technology, Estonia in 1999 and 2002, respectively. She has been teaching basic telecommunication courses Department of Radio and communication Engineering and in Thomas Johann Seebeck Department of Electronics, both in Tallinn University of Technology. She received her PhD degree in information and communication technology with the Tallinn University of Technology in 2024. She has worked in project 5G-ROUTES to test UE mobility.

Dr. Priit Roosipuu

PRIIT ROOSIPUU received the Diploma in RF Engineering from Tallinn University of Technology (Estonia) in 1993 and the MSc degree in Telecommunication and Information Systems from University of Essex (England) in 1994.

From 1995 to 1999 he worked as teaching assistant and PhD student in Department of Telecommunication in Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech), Estonia. He has worked in mobile network planning, measurements and optimization area in many countries in Europe, Middle East and Africa (for Ericsson, Nokia, Vodafone, Telenor etc) for more than 20 years. He joined Thomas Johann Seebeck Department of Electronics at TalTech in 2019 as a telecom solutions developer to support telecom research projects.

RIZWAN AHMAD received the M.Sc. degree in communication engineering and media technology from the University of Stuttgart, Stuttgart, Germany, in 2004, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Victoria University, Melbourne, VIC, Australia, in 2010. From 2010 to 2012, he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with Qatar University, Doha, Qatar, on a QNRF Grant. He is currently serving as a Professor at the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (SEECS), National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Islamabad, Pakistan. He is also director of Communication Systems and Networking (CSN) lab at SEECS – NUST. He has authored several reputed journal articles and conference papers. His research interests include public safety networks, medium access control protocols, spectrum and energy efficiency, energy harvesting, and the performance analysis for wireless communication and networks. He was a recipient of the prestigious International Postgraduate Research Scholarship from the Australian Government. He has also served as a reviewer for journals and conferences. His research interests include autonomous technologies, particularly UAV swarm, Energy modelling and harvesting, Green Communications, Machine Learning, Public safety communications, Performance Evaluation of Communication Networks (5G sustainable Cellular Networks, D2D, Energy harvesting, Cognitive Radio networks, WLANs, WBANs, Ad Hoc and Sensor networks), UAV assisted communication, Network monitoring and simulation.

Ali Hassan received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering (telecommunication and electronics) from The University of Lahore, Pakistan, in 2018, and the M.Sc. degree in electrical engineering (telecommunication and networks) from the National University of Sciences and Technology, Pakistan. He is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering (AI & Autonomous Systems) with the National University of Science and Technology (NUST-SEECS), Islamabad. He received a certificate of excellence for achieving academic excellence in the B.Sc. degree in electrical engineering in the Session Fall 2014. He is currently working as a Research Associate with the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, National University of Sciences and Technology, Pakistan. His research interests include AI, ML, blockchain, UAVs, energy harvesting, the Internet of Things, and public safety and critical networks.

Fida Muhammad Khan

Fida Muhammad Khan completed his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering in 2022 from Riphah International University, Islamabad. He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence from the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Islamabad. He has over three years of hands-on experience in drone technology, including the design, development, integration, and testing of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
